Brief and effective conversational interventions with traumatised clients for frontline responders
This training follows on from our resilient responders training to help frontline responders to prevent and empower traumatised clients.
The reality is that most people who suffer from psychological trauma will not seek treatment immediately, if ever. They will endure, soldiering through their lives and trying to ignore the cascade of ever increasing symptoms they are suffering. Most will not even know that trauma is what is causing this.
They will turn to alcohol, drugs, distracting activities and other coping methods to try to control and mitigate their pain. For many, they will see their relationships, careers and connections wither and fade under the impact of their unresolved trauma symptoms and their coping behaviours.
However, even though they will probably not seek professional help they will present to public services and agencies in many different ways and at many times in their life.
This becomes then the opportunity to intervene in their lives, particularly in the periods shortly after they first suffer their trauma, where they are most likely to be engaged by frontline services.
By learning how to have empowering conversations frontline responders can initiate the process of recovery for their clients and set them on the path back to wholeness. It's amazing how just a little of the right type of intervention it can take to turn someone's life back around.

The neuropsychology of trauma and how it forms in response to exposure
Th way trauma impacts identity and the path to recovery through empowering conversations
How to understand trauma coping behaviours including addiction, aggression, dependency and escapism (the 7 threat responses)
How to spot the signs of trauma in your clients and identify the identity deficit they are suffering
How to respond to these deficits with conversational interventions that don't look like therapy
How to empower the clients to a better story of self and open the door to recovery seeking behaviours
How to understand trauma across time and position the empowerment conversation in the past, present and future
Note: this training does not equip participants to provide trauma therapy, only to provide the client a pathway back to empowerment and recovery through conversational interventions.

FACILITATOR - ADAM BLANCH
Adam is a psychologist with 35 years experience treating trauma. He holds degrees in trauma and psychology and specialises in working with complex trauma and personality disorders.
